Eldorado at Santa Fe lies about 10 miles southeast of Santa Fe.
It is a dynamic community that began in the 1970’s and today contains about 2800 home sites. These homes range in price from $200,000 - $600,000.
The lots are 1.0 to 4.5 acres with probably 90% in the 1.3 to 2.1 range. Street lights only exist in the areas of commerce. This allows the residents an unobstructed view of the beautiful New Mexico starry sky.
It is a diverse community of young and old, professionals and artists, and various ethnicities and lifestyles.
The one common bond in this suburb is pride and support of its community. It is a clean well maintained area with its own community center, pool, soccer fields, small commerce center, library, medical and vetinariun,, and emergency services.
There are two preschools here. The pride and joy is its elementary school which is K -8. It is the only elementary school with the exemplary rating by the state for 4 years in a row.
At this school you see just as many parents as teachers and staff on any given school day.
Participation is community events is the resident’s forte. The community association is well represented and much gets done. There are numerous associations from Boy and Girl Scouts, to senior clubs to a community band.
Some of the events that occur each year are the Eldorado Arts and Crafts Association home Tour where over 100 artists open their homes to show their works. There is a July 4th parade, and a school Halloween carnival, which earns a substantial part of the elementary school’s extra curricular classes funds. There is also a fun run, library ice cream social and silent auction. All of these are very successful and well attended.
Eldorado is a great place to hike and bike because of its many “Green Belts” that were cleverly planned in the beginning of this community.
Eldorado offers both community and solace of nature. It is the best of both worlds near the “City Different”.
